Good on you Vince, My plants will have to stay in the pots for a little while yet till the tide goes out & the holes don't fill up as you are digging them.

G'day Bob,
You can get Skippy at most of the bigger grocery stores like Coles or Woolworth's ,The tails are good stewed low & slow & there are some pretty good lean cuts of meat for steaks off the legs ETC, just like the Wallaby meat. Crocodile is more on the restaurant menu along with Emu  etc ,to get these Au natural you need a specialty supplier or collect them yourself from the scrub .However if you want to try these meats done differently there are Bakeries that make them in a range of meat pies or Sausage rolls pretty much all around Australia .My mate used to ask the young shop assistants for a crocodile sandwich at the local takeaway & tell them to make it snappy,LOL) he used to get some weird looks an a few giggles.

General Discussion / Re: Kalettes
« on: September 15, 2017, 04:17:23 AM »
G'day Chip,
The kalettes that I got with your help , are now known down here as Brukale & are started in late Summer for a winter harvest, & after sprouting, taking 16 or so weeks to maturity, the advantage is you can harvest them from the bottom up like brussels. we are just entering Spring now though were still getting unprecedented snow , rain ,& the roaring forties wind is now active . I plan on trialing these plants (, because  they are wind sensitive) in some wicking bed containers that I make out of 1000 litre IBC's & hoop frame them to reduce wind buffeting , they bring guava juice down here in the IBC's & are only used once .I will let you know how it progresses & if my wife can punch the information into me I might even be able to post a photo or two in the future.
                     Regards Pete

G'day Greg,
I think I would try what chip said & maybe a quick PH test on the soil because protracted ash exposure can affect plant growth as well.

Thanks Chipp,
I am trying to salvage some of my raised beds that had been buried by the white stuff which normally don't get down to our level. The apple growers will be right because they all still look like sticks but our apricots ,Plumbs Citrus will cop it good. So I Guess , Compared to what you guys have been copping with this is tiny potatoes.I don't know about climate change but it sure don't seem to be Global warming in my neck of the planet to me!
                            Regards Petre

G'day Guys,
It is currently 0 degrees Celsius, windy  & snowing down to sea level as tassie is, according to the bureau of meteorology , apparently it is the beginning of a monster storm cell that will get worse over the next few days as it passes to the mainland.Just what we need right now as the fruit trees are in bloom & or budding with all these  crazy weather patterns.
                               Regards Pete
