press mount
« on: September 10, 2016, 07:23:07 PM »
I bought a used RCBS JR3 a few years ago. All the joints and clearances were good but it was dirty. This type of press can't sit on the bench edge if the edge is very thick (3 1/2 inches of 2X4 and two 5/8 underlayment). I decided to install the press this weekend so I built a mount for it to sit. Looking at the Dillon strong mount, I drew out the pieces on a scrap of plate I had left over from another project. The Ospho is drying tonight and paint tomorrow.

In honor of the start of hunting season, I had to camo it up.

The mount looks good, nice paint job, looks like a factory mount. Byron

There are imperfections from rust on the plate. It has sat outside in the elements for 3+ years. I can stick two pieces of metal together that's about it. I made one bonehead mistake and mounted it to far back on the bench. The ram handle hits the top of the bench. It was one of those moments that you can't believe you just did. It is very solid though.

That mount is so sturdy I may have to make two more. One for my Rockchucker and one for my Dillon 650.
