I first got inspired by Donald's YouTube channel and then encouraged by him and also by my 14 year old daughter -  to start filming our vegie/fruit tree garden here in Western Australia. I also saw Boudreaux's videos and said to myself why not give it a shot too. I am now starting to like doing it and sharing gardening tips and experience, both good and bad - I am a video filming "grasshopper", my videos are nowhere like Donald's quality videos but I am enjoying doing it with the help of my daughter doing the filming on my iphone, and after all it all good fun. Thanks again Donald and "cheers" to all as we say down here.

Well Done Vince, nice to meet you and your daughter.
Please research anything I have suggested before trying it. My ability to articulate is sometimes skewed.Zone 7a

Awww man thanks for the kudos on my vids, Donald is way ahead of me on those. I don't say the right things and um um too many times. I am getting a little better though.

My daughter and grand daughter are here for a lil while. I will take a short video and post it soon. My grand daughter loves working in the garden.

I'm gonna see if she says Donald's closing words ~!~!

Vince y'all make a great team.  It was very informative and I really enjoyed it.  It was nice to have the bird call identified and the bandicoot explained.  You have a pretty daughter and a pretty garden with a lot of variety.  I see you're using some of your hydro pots for seed starting but in others I'm wanting to know if you intend to grow them as mixed and crowded as they seem to be.  I'm wanting to learn about hydroponic gardening and I guess my question is  ... does the application of abundant nutrients and moisture really supply enough in those small pots for multiple plants?  You have 3 zukes in the one pot.  Are you planning to thin it to one?  I know hydro plants generally have smaller root systems than those grown in soil but I would have thought one zuke plant was asking a lot from that small pot.
Try and you might, don't and you won't.

Hi Tuttimato, thanks for your nice comments. The bird that can be heard in the video is a Kookaburra. Large kingfisher with a loud call that sounds like a human laugh:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kookaburra

We have a bandicoot family on our property. They only come out at dusk/night and we can see them almost every evening. Our cats and our dog are used to them and they all get along ok:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_brown_bandicoot

Yes, you are right I will need to thin most of the plants including the zucchini once they grow a bit more. I planted the zuke as seeds a couple of weeks ago. The set up is an aquaponic one and we used to grow fish (trouts) during the winter months. This is the first time we are growing hydroponic. Happy to post video updates on our hydroponic progress on a regular basis if you wish.

All the best

Everything is looking good Vince except those white flies. How low will the temperature get there? The tomatoes don't seem to mind the weather yet.

the videos are wonderful vincent.  thanks for the updates.  your fruit trees are really producing for you!    if you don't eat all those peppers you can freeze them.   the raised bed you built for the greens really worked out well for you!  they look great!

good job!

Great job on the videos.

You still have a lot of good eating.
Your fruits trees make me envious. They are beautiful.

I know it is all perception but I got a chuckle when you introduced what we were seeing by saying it was 61F overcast and winter.

My description of  "Winter Day" here would be much different.

PS: Good luck in getting  rid  of those nasty white flies. and Happy Father's Day

our winters are mild here as we are fairly close to the Indian Ocean. No frost but winter night temperatures can go very close to freezing point but then it gets warmer during the day. Coldest month is July. Main limiting factor is light intensity/short winter days.

hi vincent!  thanks for the shout out  ;)

you yard looks great!  so green!

you had some really interesting ideas in the video.  i might try the hanging cherry tomato thing with a string lattice for support, like you use the grape vine supports.  my little one loves them.

i do have a question on the plastic sleeves you use for your tomatoes.  with it being rainy for you this season, did you see an increase in disease in the plants that you put the plastic on?  i would think the plastic would hold the moisture and cause fungus or such.  they looked very healthy so I was wondering.

your peach tree looks so healthy and full of flowers.  do you do any sort of dormant spray over the winter?  do you have problems with borers?

how are the chickens?

thanks so much for the video post.  i love to see your yard.

post something!  c'mon...you know ya wanna...  :)
