I shoot pool in a league during the week and there is this one machine I can put a dollar in and get a dollar in quarters. I hear the clanging of the quarters and feels like I'm playing the slot machines at casino. I would say that is the best machine to play as it always is paying out.

Mudhog I play that same machine at the coin laundry ever once in a while an I always win my money back.  Way better payout than a casino!

I've been buying generators lately, inparticular Onan generators, to repair and sell. Trying to keep the old units going. Problem is, I haven't put anything up for sale yet.  :o

1963 Onan 5.0CCK (5kw 1800 rpm) "bought" for FREE
Runs and makes power. Will tear down and clean and decarbonize the heads after the 4.0CCK is finished.

1969 Onan 4.0CCK (4kw 1800 rpm) bought for $100
Ran and makes power, but wouldn't handle full 4kw load. Cylinder leak showed bad rings in Cylinder 1. Honed cylinders and got new rings installed last weekend. Waiting on an oil base gasket to deliver so I can wrap this one up.

1980 Onan 4.0BFA (4kw 1800 rpm) bought for $100
Unit was covered, but managed to get water in it. Drained about half a gallon of clean clear water before the oil started draining. Has good compression, but working on getting the ignition working.

1981 Onan 4.0BFA (4kw 1800 rpm) bought for $125
to be continued

1992 Onan 12.5JC (12.5kw 1800 rpm) bought for $60
Has a tri-fuel (LP, NG, Gasoline) that's worth $250 alone. Pulling parts and scraping the engine. This was my first "barn kept" item that had an engine full of water.

1993 Onan 15JC (15kw 1800 rpm) bought for $300
Has a tri-fuel (LP, NG, Gasoline) that's worth $250 alone. Bought this and it was 100% in pieces. Guy bought it from a State auction to find it was full of water and locked up. He tore it down and have the block cleaned then lost interest. I bought it to reassemble, but it has some valuable options which will allow me to recoop and make money on the initial purchase. The rest will be scrapped.

1985 Onan 15YDPTO (15kw 1800 rpm PTO) bought for $200
Wasn't making power when I got it and troubleshooting showed that the wire crimps were at fault. Redid the wiring and making power. Load tested to 13kw with no problems.

Thanks for the comments.

Mr Mud, congratulations.
Those are good deals.

The garden wagon has a tongue  handle to pull it by hand and I made another tongue to pull it behind the "gopher" lawn tractor to get more use from it . I can now use it either way , just change handles/tongue.
Mrs Crazyhorse likes to use/pull it around when working in the garden or flowers/shrubs.

We took our older daughter back to college today.  she asked us to take her to wal mart (ug) so she could do her shopping all at once while she has a ride back to her apt.  her dad and i went in and wandered around while she took my little one and took off to shop.  wal mart is currently doing their clearance on all the holiday and winter stuff.  we were in one of the aisles and found what was left of their christmas decorations.  christmas was marked 90% off!  i found a cute ornament that looks like a perfume bottle filled with sprinkles and found 2 boxes of 300 count indoor outdoor lights.  i asked hub to scan the light sets and see what they come back.  there were only 2 boxes left so i nabbed the other one and waited for him to return.  he came back and just said...put both of them in the cart.  guess what they cost....78 cents a box!  indoor/outdoor!!!

so i hooked the corner to see if there was anything in the next aisle.  to my surprise there was about 6' long display of the 100 ct lights of the same indoor/outdoor type.  hub went and scanned those...22 cents a box!  i got 15 boxes!  you are gonna see my house from space next year...lol.

the rest of the aisle was in process and they were putting out gardening stuff  :)

i have been watching craigslist for free blue/black plastic barrels.  the free ones do come up every once in awhile, but go fast.  i have looked for them for sale on there, but they go for 20 dollars each.  :(

i did a little research on what type of businesses may have them (bottling companies, pickle companies, car washes, printing companies) and tried a few of the bottling companies in my area.  the big 2 (coke/pepsi) don't give theirs away anymore.  the lady who took my call said they sell them to vendors.

i called one of our local bottling companies, sundrop/cheerwine.  they said they don't give them away, but they do sell them for 5.00 each.  i am going to rent the truck at lowes and go pick up about 6 of them.  i want to cut them in half and make planters out of them for some of my determinate toms.

Those barrels would most likely be food grade an safe to use but ask an read labels too Chip. My brother works for a factory that gets heavy duty soap in 240 gallon totes that they cannot get rid of so they stack them outside.   Keep your eyes open as I know you do.  Those big totes can be cut in half an made into some nice planters.   Check out YouTube for how to videos.

so i stopped in dollar general on the way home and nabbed some Giant Noble spinach seeds.  dollar general has a decent variety of seeds that are very cheap.  i have used some of them in the past without issue, so i get a few every year.  the spinach seeds i got were sold under the brand American Seed and were 2 packs for a dollar!  The back of the pack had 'growing help see our website'.  it directed me to

plantation products.com

turns out plantation products is the parent company for not only the 'discount' seed sold under American Seed, but also the parent company of several other known brands including Ferry~Morse.  :)

i am betting they are all the same seeds.  you just pay more for the ferry morse name at the big box store set ups.

This is not so much a good deal but more of a funny.  A couple of weeks ago I went to Lafayette to get the $2 tour with Ragun Gardener.  We went to a steel supplier an went through their scrap tub an you piled up what ya wanted for $20 an that was a deal.  But our next stop was a scrap yard that Rob went in to get permission to go into the yard which was granted, so we proceed am we are getting some good scrap for my junk art, but after a while an employee came over an basically threw us out. (we didn't meet the dress code) Now I have been thrown out of a few places but never a junk yard, but I can't speak for Rob.    We got 100 lbs before we left at 25 cents per lb.

It's not my fault, they didn't splain it clear enough to me, I asked at the front office and the guy said yes you can dig through the junk, go in the back and we did. Then another guy on the excavator asked what we were doing and I told him and he said OH OK. Seems like that mean woman in the office is related to Fred Sanford and was mad we took her junk without asking her. It was only after we were almost finished some other guy comes and asks if we checked into the office upstairs so we finished grabbing a few things and went upstairs. Seems like the management is in the dumps because they should at least have a sign or something.  :D :D
