A quote that brought back a memory
« on: August 16, 2017, 07:37:17 AM »
We both remembered the woman who rode a bicycle everywhere, and we remember seeing a boy in our class who was so shy he didn't talk much. Unfortunately there was no connection made until the early years of HS. The entire school was in the auditorium , the woman and our classmate walked out on the stage and what a story she had. They were Dutch, she and her husband had helped downed American Fliers during the war and was given the opportunity to come to America. I don't how they happened to come to Terrell but her story that inspired me the most was that they came here with nothing but saw opportunity everywhere they looked. Her husband was in a buy & sale salvage sort of business & she started with a small shoe repair shop & later into a very nice shoe store. There were parts of her total story which were sad, but every once in awhile their name still will come up about how they had nothing but made it. Here is the quote that made me think of that day in the HS auditorium.

" Be thankful for everybody in your life, good & bad, past & present,
they all made you the person you are today".
