My phone took a dive
« on: August 21, 2017, 05:40:50 PM »
I know that this topic has nothing to do with gardens an such but I know heaps of members an I thought that I would reach the most on the general topics thread.   I have lost all of my contact info in my dogs water dish this morning an I would appreciate a PM or a phone call so I can get back the info.

Everybody hurry and call at once, let it ring twice then hang up and do this till he answers.

Serves him right to nap during an eclipse. This reminds me of the opening scene from "Up in Smoke".

Samsung Galaxy 8....the commercial shows it taking a dive in a pool, and not missing a beat.

Pretty $$$ though.....

Yes I have it on rice in a ziploc but there is little hope.  It was in the water for more than 5 minutes.  I replaced it with another Iphone, but all my photos an contacts were lost.  Bobcat I have a water proof cover on the way, so staying by the lake shouldn't pose a hazard.
Gymgirl I have had androids an they are ok, but I like to be a couple generations behind, mostly because I am cheap an a grumpy old man 8) an I have a water proof cover coming that is good for 6 feet so it should handle the dog dish with ease.

So sorry about your data loss.  Especially, the pics... :'( :'( :'(

Reminds us all to upload those pics to a safe place, periodically.

Gopher,

Most iPhones automatically back up to the iCloud to store your data. I am not sure who your carrier is but they should be able to retrieve it for you. This prevents all of your contacts, pictures and other items from being permanently lost.

Where is the curly cord when you really need it?  I hope you have your cloud storage set up an up to date.

SIM Card & memory card should still be good once dried out. HOPEFULLY that's where your contacts were stored??? If so, all is not lost!
