I found a place >>>>>>>>>>>>
« on: August 25, 2017, 05:49:04 PM »
It is not written in stone, but I have a place booked for the GTG on the 28th.

In keeping with Donald's wishes it is centrally located, good area and easy to find.

American Legion Hall in Mamou,  La.  I will get the address and post it soon.

For those camping Lakeview Park is only 4 miles from Mamou. Gopher Broke enjoyed his 4 months there.

Hotels are in Eunice and great prices. Holiday Inn Express is a good one.

The address is 399 5th. St. for you google users. It is very easy to find. Mamou police station is kitty korner from it and the post office is across the street.

Coming from hwy 13 you turn at the flag poles and the Mamou town monument. That is Main St. when you see the police station the building is on the right hand corner.............

I will be in a campground somewhere close, so I am researching what is nearby and I would like to be in the same campground as any other forum members.
I think the closest is Chicot State park where Donald had a  pavilion set up an they pulled the plug on us so I don't know if that includes the campground or not but I will call when they are open an ask an post it here.  Here are the fees for Chi cot State Park;
Premium Campsite (Improved Campsite with sewerage or pull-through or prime location)

$25/night plus tax, Sun-Thurs, Oct-Mar
Improved Campsite (water and electrical hookup)   $28/night plus tax, Fri-Sat

$20/night plus tax, Sun-Thurs, Oct-Mar
Unimproved Campsite (without hookup)   $18 per night plus tax

Lakeview Campground

High Season: (March- November)
Daily $40.00
Weekday Special (Sun. - Thurs.) $35.00
Weekly $200.00

Lakeview Campground has cottages to rent.
COTTAGES
RATES:

1-Bedroom Cottage
Daily $105.00
Weekly $425.00
Daily Seasonal $115
Additional Guest $5/day (not to exceed 2 people)
Weeknight Special (Sunday - Thursday) $75

2-Bedroom Cottage
Daily $125.00
Weekly $525.00
Daily Seasonal $135
Additional Guest $5/day (not to exceed 2 people)
Weeknight Special (Sunday - Thursday) $95

I will look and post information as I find it an I will verify if the state park campground will be open or not.

Boudreaux,
I really appreciate you locating a place for the gathering. I would like to attend but it is about a 9 or 10 hour drive. I will not know until it gets closer. I will be attending the Southeastern Agricultural Exposition on Oct 18 and 19 in Moultrie, GA but if schedule  is clear I still may try to make it.
Again I appreciate you stepping in and handling the arrangements.  If all goes well this may be a good annual location.

Thanks Daniel for the support. I have done 3 spring get togethers already so I do have some experience under my belt, plus other functions I have done in the past.

I guess that's why Donald wanted me to take over. According to his message he sent me at least.

I have an update on the hall. I talked to Charles today and the hall is finished. All the trim and display cases and pictures are in place.

Charles is stuck at the hospital in Lake Charles getting patients in from Texas. He has been there since Sunday and won't be back home until Friday or Saturday. We will meet up this weekend and I will take a video and give ya'll a walk through..................

I just realized you're trying to work me to death. The last 2 GTG's I cooked, should I expect the same this time too? ;D ;D ;D

I don't mind cooking but I'll need Limo service and a Sous chef, can we make that happen? Maybe someone to fan me as I do my magic too, just saying...

I will be there Rob. Just got the ok today from my boss. My vacation is a week after the gtg but they will let me take it early. I will give you a call this week when I get back in and talk about what I could bring. Also the wife might have to work the weekend so I could drive you around so you could enjoy a few beverages.
I will also bring a small pa system with some music but if anyone else has an iPod or mp3 player with music we will be able to play those also. I have not DJed in a long time and no longer have a good media player to find all my Cajun music. It's there just alot to sort through.
Also there will be karaoke avaliable if someone wants to sing.
Finally I cannot believe you posted that again. Lol I will be singing in the finals of a contest this weekend. It was pushed back last time I was in because of the weather!
