I really enjoyed that song and especially the video of pictures.  Reminded me of simpler times, not so screwed up like today.

Thank you crazyhorse, I wish you could have heard Jewel sing Wayfaring Stranger back in her day.  The version of One More River we used to sing at school was different. Here are a couple of lines.                    Old Noah he build himself an ark---There's one more River to cross
He Built it out of hickory bark----There's one more river to cross
That song had about nine verses & we all really could get with it. I saw a couple called Annie & Mac sing it on a Google U tube. Thank you so much again for these Blessings

Mr Monroe , you are welcome and thank you for all of your photos and good stories.
I enjoy all of them.
Who did Mrs Jewel like to hear sing Wayfaring  Stranger?

I hope this is the right one.

Picture a class of kids singing that version of nine verses & about half way through start getting tickled and finally ending with lots of laughter. .crazyhorse , Jewel had that Mezzo soprano voice that was a perfect fit for Wayfaring Stranger. She learned to sing mostly by listening to the radio back as a kid. Jewel never had a private lesson in voice or piano but was very good. A lot of her favorites to imitate were the female Black singers however, she could yodel right along with Gene Autry. She was behind me on the horse the first time I ever heard her sing solo . When she finished I stopped the horse , turned around & hugged her. it was so beautiful. Sadly now neither of us remember what she was singing. That also was the first time I ever had my arms around her, that I do remember. We must have been in the eighth  grade by then. Thanks again.

Mr Monroe , thank you for another good  history story.

The first time I laid eyes on my future wife , I was on a tractor , going out her fathers  driveway to cut some land for her father.
I saw her  in the yard, I threw my hand up at her and she  threw her hand up at me  and I thought that she was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. I still think so today.
Fast forward a month or so later , I got a date with her and the rest is history.
I love my wife and thank The Lord for her.

I will stop for now.

Jewel & I have always been able to entertain each other by talking. She remembers things now that were so long ago , I go with her back to those days so we can laugh together about some of the silly happenings. She is enjoying reading again since cataract removal & reads songs from the little school music book. She asked if I remembered this and then started reading John Henry. I would never have remembered that another boy & I sang & acted out John Henry in front of the class. Crazyhorse , our wives are God's Angels , that is my belief with all my heart.
