Green velvet okra. For years, I grew Clemson Spinelss and one day my feed and seed store didn't have any. They did have the green velvet and I tried it and really liked it. Stays really tender and seems to have less slime. I save my seeds and we eat a lot of okra.

Double B,
If you put a little bit of lemon juice or lemon extract in the water the okra has no slime. Dan

The slime is caused when the okra gets wet inside.  It releases the mucilaginous (slime) gel that reacts with the water...

When you rinse your okra, dry the outside off with a towel BEFORE you slice it up for the freezer...

When you cook your okra, drop a little vinegar in the skillet/pan.  This "cuts" the slimy rope that develops when the steam (water) hits the mucilaginous membrane inside the pods...

Lordy, Lordy, I got OKRA seed!  How much you want?  To mail about 3-4 oz. of seed is about $2.45.  That's almost a sandwich bag full.  If you want some, let me know! Longhorn is what I have.

You could try but it would be doubtful. Mine is up about an inch ( planted last week) and down here we can cut it until frost. It likes hot weather and I don't know what your summer temps are and how long that lasts but you might want to start some seeds in indoors and have them ready when it warms up.
