2016 Garden Bragg Thread (Post your Pics)
« on: April 15, 2016, 03:46:46 PM »
Hello Everyone,
Figured I would kick off the 2016 gardening season with a bragg thread.  Please use this thread to bragg about your garden and the produce that you get. I know many on the forum enjoy seeing the pics.
Tim
First picking of the 2016 season for me was 5 quarts of contender green beans.  I picked them on 4/14/2016.  I had enough for a pot with supper and put up 4 quarts of blanched beans.
Tim

Guess i will add some pics of my garden thus far.

Yep rajun, I planted the mirliton plants last spring.  They wintered over and started putting on vine again.   The pic is one of many tiny fruits that are setting on.

Looking good BC, if I were you, I'd plant okra in those rows that hold water and treat it like corn, sidedress with nitrogen and hip them up when they're 12" . You'll be surprised at the production you get. Then you can send all the seeds to Catgrass. :D

Bc and Tim

Looking good.  I have had real problem with the storms this year.  But I am picking onions now and the potatoes are are starting push the soil out and the corn is about 4' tall(the corn has taken a beaten in the wind). I will try to take pictures tomorrow and post them.

Thanks Ragun and David,
I added to the back of the garden. 6 rows about 30 foot for drainage. Needed something to plant and had the seed so threw corn in about 5 days ago. Still not popping yet.
Ragun I actually have okra in those 3 rows. They are hard to see but are about 3 inches tall. Hoping for the corn even though it is a little late. if I cant eat it the chickens will love it!

When did you sow your beans Tim? They have grown very quickly for you to harvest them already... :o

Only thing I can bragg about is that I got everything replanted after last weeks hail. So, starting over up here in Oklahoma. That's the good news. The bad news is that we have severe weather forecast for the next 5 days! Yeah, it sucks!

Shane I hear that the MLB is short on baseball bats. Let those pigweeds grow and sell the roots to them.

I don't know if this is worth bragging about but I'll post up a few photos from early this morning. It is very cloudy and windy here with storms predicted for the next five days now. They are guessing that we could get anywhere from 6-10" of rain which will probably destroy a large part of my garden. These pics are of the small garden in the front of our property. The rear garden has corn and peas in it.

Not much to brag on this spring as I've not planted my traditional Spring garden of tomatoes, snapbeans, and okra. I do have some small tomatoes growing in the greenhouse and I will put a couple of tomatoes in the garden soon. The snapbeans will be planted in the fall and the okra will be planted in a few weeks. The only thing growing in the garden at this time is my Candy onions which are just beginning to swell.
