Broccoli
« on: March 23, 2017, 01:31:11 PM »
I have a friend that is searching for two different broccolis.I was hoping someone on her may have kept the strains alive. Looking for "green Comet".It is a 30 day broccoli. And also trying to find Pacman as it is becoming hard to get.
Thanks,
Wade

hey wade.  it looks like the green comet is near extinction.  one of the pages i read says it got yanked from most of the big seed companies several years ago.   i have searched about 20 pages of results so far.  the only thing i have found that comes close to the original 'green comet' was on amazon, but they are pretty pricey.

https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=srs%3D15273641011%26search-alias%3Dspecialty-aps&field-keywords=green+comet

there does seem to be a newer f1 hybrid out there called 'southern comet' that seems a bit easier to find.

i will throw up a notice on craigslist. for the green comet and see if anyone in this area has the old school variety seeds saved.

I guess that is some expensive broccoli! I've heard so much about it and would like to try it also but not at those prices! I have passed your info on. Thank you so much! If you get responses about seed being available it would be great! You certainly know how to work the web much better than I!
Thanks again!

hi wade

i also found this link.  it says it is the hybrid version, but they had both comet and packman.  i am not sure if they only sell wholesale, but it could be worth a call.  you and your friend could prob split an order.
