Hand held pea sheller
« on: May 16, 2018, 03:12:37 PM »
I have been looking in town for the past few years for a small hand held pea sheller. Not one of our feed n seed stores carries such a thing. I remember my parents had one that you could put your pea through this gadget with a blade inside that would slice (or score) it for you, making this process a little easier on the nails. Could any of you give me direction? I'm going to post a pic I found on Google that is similar to what I am talking about.

pknowles, There is also a pea sheller and a French bean slicer that has a hand crank on it. I used the hand crank sheller to shell a bushel of Pink-Eyes.  Surprisingly it did not take that long. The prices on these Little pea shellers has really gone up but you can find both on eBay.

This was our first picking from last year.  I use the same pea sheller that Donald sells here.

Thanks.  I didn't even think about Ebay.

Interesting.  I'm going to try building one (as posted by Maggie) if I get some peas this summer.
