« on: October 06, 2016, 06:47:01 AM »
When is the proper time to prune .  Ive seen videos where it was done in spring ( SUMMER )  with green leaves , also when the tree was dormat. We live in central Okla. where our first freeze is nov. 1st and our last freeze is may 1st.

I do not live in your zone but assume the procedure is basically the same.

If you are pruning dead wood you can do it anytime of the year.

If you want to shape the tree  a bit you can do that even when the fruit is on it. That insures you won't mistakenly cut any productive branches.
but for serious trimming you should wait until the end of winter. That will give the wounds time to heal as spring begins to trigger the growth cycle for the tree,
