New Pullets!
« on: May 21, 2018, 05:22:00 AM »
Introducing
Cu and Red

After a short quarantine they have joined Rusty and Penny.
There was the expected  little arguing about who roost where on the bar but they have figured out the order of things quickly.
I check after dark and they are all on the roost in this order from left to right Penny Rusty big space ( room for 2 )  Cu and Red

The door  to the run is  left open every day Penny and Rusty free range but the new girls have not stepped outside of the run. They seem to be happy to play and hang out within the confines of the chicken tractor.

They are pretty - Rhode Island Reds???

We have about a dozen Reds and one that we named E.D. for Egg Delivery.  She will fly out and go to a big flower pot that she pulled the plants out of months ago but we left it there for her.  She will lay her egg in the pot and then walk around the front door till someone comes out.  If we don't see her she throws a fuss so we can open the gate to let her back in.  There are lots of trees inside their pen so for whatever reason she doesn't think she can fly back in.

Nice.  We have 17 hens and love them.  We let them out when we get home from work and have noticed a reduction in the tick population.  Chickens are pretty cool pets.

PK they do have some pretty feathers!

Mike they are a cross of a Road Island Red Rooster with a White leghorn Hen.

adrianrog we now have a total of 4  chickens so the ticks are still abundant around here!
