Yep, if you're all about egg production, nothing to see here.  Just move along. If you enjoy watching the yardbirds, though, bantams can be fun.

This is a quick pic of our young bantam rooster with his surrogate mom.  When the hen went broody, we hatched six fertile eggs for a friend, then kept one of the chicks thinking it might be a hen.  In fact, my daughter named it Annabell.  Needless to say, Annabell turned out to be an Annabert, a little rooster instead.  This is a pic of Annabert and his surrogate mom.  He's  roughly 3 months old, and he's started to get some nice coloration in his feathers.

And, yes, we do have other chickens - 2 Silver Laced Wyandottes, 1 Easter Egger and another Bantam hen.  It's fair to say, though, that while they lay eggs, their main purpose is just the enjoyment of having them around. 

Location: Orange, Tx; Southeast Gulf Coast, zone 9a.  Small home garden.
