Where I have been for a while...
« on: October 11, 2018, 09:33:20 AM »
If any was wondering where I have been lately (not many I expect...lol). I have been putting together this... The 48th Va Infantry Co. A "Mountain Boomers" of the North-South Skirmish Association.  We are part of an organization that does living history through the competitive shooting of Civil War Weapons.  It has taken me a while to get this going but this last weekend we made it through the unit inspection and are now a member team of the Association. Here is a pic of us and the kinds of things we do....

Nice to see the Stars & Bars flying proudly as it should be!  I am a Yankee but those were American men an boys fighting for their rights on both sides.  Times were different then, but I don't know if I would have had the sand to fight like they did back then.  TG do you guys go to schools an talk to kids about the history that you are reenacting?

We aren't reenactors...we are a shooting team in the North-South Skirmish Association but occasionally we do things like educational programs. Lately though our area of history isn't very popular especially not the truth about it anyway.  I used to do programs pretty regularly until schools got so wussy about allowing anything that looks like a weapon into the schools. Kinda hard to give an in depth history of what life was like for the common soldier without being able to show the tools of the trade if you know what I mean...lol

I know that had to be a major effort to get that set up.  Congratulations on getting it done.
