Me. Monroe,
Sorry about the potatoes.  I've not used salt water on weeds before.

Saturday, I mixed up almost three wheelbarrows of container mix and transplanted a few tomatoes. Then, I sowed five flats of marigolds, and cut the yard. Used the drop spreader to put Scott's Turfbuilder Weed & Feed on the front lawn. Waiting for the rain to water it in. Didn't cut it first, according to the directions.

Fertilized my grass around the house, harvested the turmeric from the large tub. Noticed my annuals and perinials were breaking ground in the seed trays. Pulled some more clover around the onions.

Pulled weed sprouts outta the beet and carrot beds, before the rain encourages them to sprout up like, well, weeds....

Surveyed the veggie garden for more spaces to plant.  Decided NOT to sow my last bed with Contender Green Beans.  Going with zucchini instead.  Had 4 plants in two 20-gallon SmartPots last season, and got about 10 wonderful zukes before the SVB took out my plants.

First time growing and cooking zukes, and, I really, really liked them.  I run them across the mandolin and make "planks" to make a lasagna with tomato sauce .  Or, I run them through the spiralizer to make "zoodles" to use like pasta, with sausage.

Really want to outsmart that SVB this year...and harvest a bunch of zukes.  So, I figure I should hedge my bet, and plant an abundant crop in several places in the garden, hoping the SVB won't find them all before I can harvest what I need.

Any ideas, ya'll lmk.  Thanks!

Completed the 50hr oil change on my tractor.
Roto tilled the whole garden.
Mixed some sheep manure into where the corn is going to go.
Ordered some replacement parts for my drip system.
Turned the compost pile over.
Bought all my seeds for the season.
Bought some potting mix to do my starts in...
Rebuilt my drip system valve tree. Had to replace all the pvc ball valves with brass lever valves. The water pressure blew them all out last year. :(

Transplanted a few Tomatoes and Bell Peppers into the raised beds.  I know its early but maybe weve had the last frost for the season, rolling the dice.  Kept enough transplants under lights just in case.

Well I came across several  shopping bags of unsalted peanut hulls and threw them in the garden.
Also some oak leaves and shopping bag of banana peeling and threw them in the garden too.

Well I see that some of you are actually planting already. We had a frost here this morning. In between rains, I have been working the soil and pulling weeds out of the raised beds. I work from 8 - 5 during the week so I've been doing as much as possible on weekends. The time change is good for the afternoons, however there isn't too much daylight left when I get home. Anxious about the garden this year. Hoping for a better turnout.
Just wanna work in the garden and hang out with the chickens

Mr. Monroe, around here the only seed potatoes anyone has is Pontiac, Yukon gold and Kennebec.I wanted to try raising some russets because I love baked potatoes.I went to the grocery and bought some, took them home and buried them in a container of potting soil and added a pint or so of water. In a week or so they were chitting! I was surprised because you always hear how everything is sprayed with something to keep them from sprouting. I don't know what the truth is about that but if you eat potatoes it's easy enough to find out. Buy the potatoes you like and chances are you will be growing the potatoes you like!

Wade my first choice was the Red La Soda, they seem to be more draught resistant and I also like to cook with them.
